Well, I’ve always wondered what a Chinese Grom tops out at, turns out it’s 50-55 with this dude riding it.
He hit 55 on the flats, 60 downhill, 45 uphill. Considering how optimistic Chinese speedos are, I wonder what the bike was indicating? The exhaust note was like a scaled down fart can.
As for the specific kind of clone? It was one of the Ducati Monster looking ones.

I’m not gonna lie, I kinda want one of these to dick around on. So long as it can be hooligan d around and is capable of stoppies and the dankest of whoolies it would be an awesome parking lot racer.

He probably did some work like a carb, exhaust, bit bore kit, so the “49cc” and “35mph top speed” are like the SVO’s “85mph speedometer”

The clones have 125cc engines like Groms do. However, these engines are carbureted (Grom is efi) and you just know these Chinese engines aren’t built to the same tolerances as a Honda.
It did likely have a jet kit for that eBay exhaust. lol

Apparently the clones are just as good at dank whoolies, but won't make you cry when you inevitably drop them!

I've heard that for companies like Cleveland cycle weeks and Janus, they get their motors from a Chinese firm that bought old Honda tooling. Or at least bought the designs. There is a chance that 125cc is really similar to a Honda dirt bike engine. Could be real easy to tune.

China has replicated all of my old Hondas perfectly. They must have the tooling. The cheap eBay parts bolt right on and work great . The carbs I have purchased didn’t even need adjusting. That said my woods bike gets oem parts only. I hate walking.

Afaik, some manufacturers may have old tooling while others have the designs. At any rate, Chinese parts are direct bolt on and generally okay.
When they copy entire bikes, the bikes are usually a tad slower and worse for reliability than the OG bike. With that said, they are also 1/3 to 1/2 the price, so...

Well consider me sold, I’ll be getting one!
